PAUL GEORGES
19232002

A member of the second generation of the New York School, Paul Georges took elements from Abstract Expressionismsuch as the physical immediacy of the paintand applied them to the more traditional field of figurative painting. One of Georges's artistic quests has been to reach a style of figurative representation that is "completely natural yet also timeless." Pictured here with his model for The Studiothe subject for an article in the ARTnews ". . . Paints a Picture" series, Georges explained that he drew from Cubism to create the final figuresketching and painting the figure from several positions and angles and then uniting them to form a final, more complete image.
