Artist Statement:
Mr. Williams has been my twin sons' math tutor for the past three years. He teaches at Palmetto Senior High, where my wife also works. He is a dedicated teacher who shows passion for what he does best, which is helping students and people in any situation without expecting any reward or compensation. I can honestly say that Johnny Williams is a true educator who is well aware of his students' needs and works with them to achieve their full potential. This painting was my show of gratitude towards him for the time he put forth with my sons, and how well they improved in math. This painting was conceived because Mr. Williams had discussed with me the desire to have a painting showing his African heritage, and I was able to capture this essence through his facial expression and also in the making of the frame.
