ALL GALLERY EDUCATOR POSITIONS FOR THE 2007-08 ACADEMIC YEAR HAVE BEEN FILLED

Gallery Educators are vibrant and dedicated people who make significant contributions to the National Portrait Gallery’s educational mission. These paid facilitators work within the School and Teacher and Youth and Family Programs divisions of NPG’s Education Department, which is a vital link between the Gallery and its diverse public. We call our approach to programming “walk, talk, think, and do,” which challenges young people to make their museum visit an interactive experience. As the face of the Education Department, Gallery Educators engage and excite young visitors through the medium of portraiture while relaying pertinent historical, biographical, and cultural information about images on display at the NPG. Being a Gallery Educator requires enthusiasm, interest, and a commitment of time. All applicants must be willing to commit to two programs per month—or a minimum of twenty-four shifts per year (for most assignments)—annual training sessions, and at least one year of service.
