Office of the Director
The Office of the Director oversees all aspects of the National Portrait Gallery. Interns work on special projects in museum management, board meeting preparation and execution, correspondence, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate students with a relevant interest and background in museum management are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is required. Candidates should also have exceptional written communication skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently as well as with a team, and must be extremely detail-oriented. Interns must be able to communicate in a professional, effective manner with prospective and current donors, commission members, museum visitors and fellow staff members and possess strong critical thinking skills. Interns are expected to be professional and reliable in the office. The ability to manage time effectively and work independently is important.
Terms Internship is Available:
All terms: fall, winter/spring, and summer.
