All Our Colours to the Mast

label

"Intra-European Co-operation for a Better Standard of Living" was the theme of an international poster contest sponsored by the European Recovery Program in 1950 as part of its public relations campaign. More than ten thousand entries were submitted in local competitions. The posters shown here were among the twenty-five award-winning designs selected by a panel of graphic art specialists, each representing a Marshall Plan country. Reijn Dirksen of the Netherlands won the first prize with a nautical design titled, All Our Colours to the Mast.
