In March 1948 Vogue magazine published this group portrait with the caption, “Six composers whose songs are current delights in five Broadway musicals.” Positioned prominently at the center of the image is composer Frederick Loewe (1901–1988), whose Brigadoon (1947) ran for 581 performances. Loewe and lyricist Alan Jay Lerner (not pictured) later scored hits with My Fair Lady (1956) and Camelot (1960). Also pictured (left to right) are Bob Hilliard (1918–1971), who penned the lyrics for “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” (1955) and “Our Day Will Come” (1963); Richard Lewine (1910–2005), producer of Cinderella (1957), the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical created expressly for television; Hugh Martin (1914–2011), who wrote the film score for Meet Me in St. Louis (1944); Burton Lane (1912–1997), composer of the musicals Finian’s Rainbow (1947) and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (1965); and Carl Sigman, lyricist for songs such as “Crazy He Calls Me” (1949) and “It’s All in the Game” (1951).
También aparecen aquí (desde la izquierda) Bob Hilliard (1918–1971), autor de las letras para “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” (1955) y “Our Day Will Come” (1963); Richard Lewine (1910–2005), productor de Cinderella (1957), el único musical de Rodgers y Hammerstein creado expresamente para la televisión; Hugh Martin (1914–2011), autor de la banda sonora del filme Meet Me in St. Louis (1944); Burton Lane (1912–1997), compositor de los musicales Finian’s Rainbow (1947) y On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (1965); y Carl Sigman, letrista de canciones tales como “Crazy He Calls Me” (1949) y “It’s All in the Game” (1951).
