Born Brookline, Massachusetts
John F. Kennedy, pictured here in November 1959, stands at the edge of Coos Bay in Oregon. He visited the town to meet with longshoremen, in part to talk with them about wages but also to discuss the economy of southwest Oregon and how to create more avenues of work. During his visit, he attended a Democratic breakfast in Klamath Falls and a lunch at the Lions Club in Coos Bay.
Jacques Lowe became John F. Kennedy’s full-time campaign photographer in 1959 and documented much of his presidency. In 1999, Lowe printed a selection of his photographs of the Kennedy family from this time and dedicated the album to the memory of Kennedy.
